About the Research Office

The Research Office is a central unit within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and supports research activities across UTS in partnership with the faculty research offices and other support units, including identifying and accessing research funding, contracts, ethics, post-award, IP management and commercialisation and research data intelligence. To constantly improve how we support our researchers, the Research Office is adopting a new operational team structure.

About the role

The Research Grants team aims to identify, develop and support new grant funding opportunities to build on the scale, quality and reach of UTS’s research activities and deliver impact through the translation of outcomes into practical use.

The Research Grants Officer (Post-Award) plays a critical role in the Research Grants team and contributes to the aim of maximising UTS research excellence and impact by building the quality and volume of grant funded research projects and collaborative research partnerships involving UTS researchers; and ensuring that grants are established and managed according to the funder’s governance and reporting requirements.

To be successful in securing the role you will have:

 At HEW 6

  • Experience working in a research administration function; in particular managing post-award grant matters, and experience in reviewing and processing grant applications (desirable).
  • Experience working in a university or other public sector environment (desirable). 
  • Experience working with data requiring strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of research grant post-award requirements (with a particular focus on the Australian Research Council and the National Health and Medical Research Council).
  • Understanding of research grant proposal preparation and submission processes, including developing research project budgets

At HEW 7

  • Experience drafting research grant multi-institution agreements, and reviewing grant funding agreements.
  • Capability in running training sessions on research management systems and processes.
  • Experience coordinating small grant round application submissions.
  • Experience coordinating grant scheme reporting submissions.
  • Understanding of grant agreement management processes in a university environment.  Understanding of the imperative for universities to engage with end users of research.
  • Awareness of the Australian research policy environment.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range:         
$80,009pa to $86,630pa (HEW 6)
$88,288pa to $97,668pa (HEW 7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

 This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
