About the role

Researchers in the Priority Research Centre in Stroke and Brain Injury are cutting edge researchers dedicated to improving stroke care and recovery. Associate Professor Coralie English leads a team of researchers focused on understanding the role of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and exercise in stroke recovery and rehabilitation.

As the Research Assistant you will provide a high level of technical, administration and research support to the Stroke Recovery Group on projects related to stroke, physical activity and exercise. You will:

  • assist in data collection for projects;
  • draft grant application and ethics applications for projects;
  • undertake literature searching, sourcing and data extraction for systematic reviews;
  • draft and edit manuscripts for publication; and
  • draft and edit research presentations.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • completed an undergraduate degree in allied health, exercise science or science, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • proven high level written communication skills and computer literacy;
  • organisational skills including demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and expectations through multi-tasking, prioritising and problem solving;
  • computer proficiency and familiarity with common software programs (including spreadsheet and database applications) and email use; and
  • the ability to make sound decisions within your sphere of responsibility and take responsibility for delivering to plan and on time.

This position is offered on a part-time 0.4 full-time equivalent, 15 month fixed term contract

HEW 5 - $63,943 to $74,175 per annum (pro-rated to 0.4 FTE), plus an employer superannuation contribution of 9.5%.
