The Position

CSIRO Agriculture & Food along with the High Resolution Plant Phenomics Centre (HRPPC) is seeking to appoint a Software Engineer to join our analytics and computer vision development team. The HRPPC is a world-class plant analysis facility located at CSIRO Agriculture and Food, CSIRO Black Mountain Science and Innovation Park, in Canberra.

You as the successful candidate will be involved in creating infrastructure to support computer vision algorithms for web applications related to the analysis of digitised plants and crops.

Your duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the design, coding, integrating and testing of internal and client facing websites.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for produced computer code;
  • Work with a software team to build websites for presentation of scientific results. 

Location:      Black Mountain ACT
Salary:          $61K - $78K plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure:         Specified Term until 30 June 2018

To be successful you will need:

  • Bachelor degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent related field with at least 12 months of programming experience in an industry/research environment.
  • Demonstrated Web development experience including development using JavaScript, PHP, HTML and CSS3
  • Experience with LAMP stacks and related technologies in a Linux environment.
  • Ability to create backend scripts or software in Linux using Python and Bash.
