The role of Research Projects staff in CSIRO is to collaborate in scientific activities with other research staff usually by assisting with detailed planning, undertaking or assisting with experimental and observational work, and in carrying out the more practical aspects of the work.
The Molecular & Materials Modelling (MMM) laboratory within Data61 are offering Assistant roles to prepare the next generation of Australia's data-ready workforce. These assistant roles are casual, designed for students currently studying for Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a suitable field, who intend to pursue a PhD after graduating. In particular, the Molecular Modelling Assistant will be currently enrolled in a higher education degree at a university in Victoria, and interested in training and working in computational chemistry and nanoscience.
The positions will be 2 days per week during semesters, and increase to full-time hours for 12 weeks over summer months (November/February time frame). The specific days for attendance at Data61 will be adjusted to account for the academic schedule each semester.
The successful candidates will gain significant research experience, making them strongly competitive for PhD scholarships such as the highly competitive Data61 Scholarships.
