Senior Manager - Analytics and Data Science

Cartology is the Woolworths Group’s new stand-alone media business. Cartology has been established to provide data led marketing solutions for FMCG and liquor brands to build brand equity and drive sales performance by leveraging the Woolworths customer audience both in store and across Woolworths Group digital platforms.

Cartology’s recently established Activation function will take the group’s media offering beyond the current in-site and owned digital offerings. The activation business will utilise the group’s vast identity pool and deep customer understanding to power Cartology’s activation in new channels including digital display and video, social, search, connected TV and digital audio.

The Opportunity

In your new role as Senior Manager - Analytics and Data Science your focus will be to advance Cartology’s deep customer understanding to launch and grow highly effective audience, measurement and media products for Cartology’s publisher, agency, and brand clients. You will guide the development of media, audience and measurement products both within Cartology and WooliesX, and support sales and ongoing client partnerships for these products.

As an seasoned data science expert you will:

  • Design and development of Cartology audience products in collaboration with WooliesX and Quantium where appropriate
  • Development of Cartology measurement product and product strategy, managing existing Quantium and WooliesX measurement products, setting an overall Cartology Activation measurement strategy, and developing new solutions where appropriate
  • Contribute to development of media and advertising products and the product roadmap, drawing on your deep data science expertise and Cartology’s deep customer understanding
  • Contribute to campaign planning through targeting proposals, audience sizing, bespoke insights and analysis
  • Develop insights on campaign efficacy with publisher partners and work with Activation operations to build repeatable campaign efficacy reporting processes
  • Identify and develop case studies highlight the effectiveness and sophistication of Cartology Activation products
  • Build on your knowledge of campaign planning and efficacy to partner with WooliesX data science team on audience data capability development
  • Contribute to development of major proposals with key media agency partners and advertisers on the use of Cartology solutions
  • Contribute to go-to-market strategy development and execution in collaboration with Activation brand & publisher partnership team
  • Contribute to sales pitches and ongoing account management in collaboration with Activation brand & publisher partnership team

Who we’re looking for

As a true leader and fervent senior data science expert, you will bring strategic thinking, a creative approach, leadership and a strong commercial orientation together with your background in advertising, customer experience or media. 

You will also demonstrate the following experience

  • 7-10 years’ experience in analytics or data science in marketing, customer experience or advertising with demonstrated leadership roles and experience launching products
  • Strong presentation skills and experience shaping product and go-to-market strategy
  • Strong business experience with proven ability to drive results
  • Successful internal and external relationship management
  • Experience working in both entrepreneurial and established corporate cultures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and good follow-through
  • Computer science, mathematics or another relevant quantitative degree (Master or PhD an advantage)
