About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Project Manager, Research Operations, Coordination and Systems Planning, the Senior Administrative Officer will be responsible for supporting the operations of the Research Operations Administration area and the Sydney Health Partners Research Enablers Theme. This role requires strong administrative, organisational, and leadership skills in order to coordinate and undertake a range of operational activities on an ongoing basis. Responsibilities include preparing documents, maintaining records, updating web materials, providing phone and email support, responding to queries, exploring matters, sourcing solutions, setting up meetings and general secretariat duties as well as assisting the directors and managers in the work area with Human Resources processes such as advertising, hiring and onboarding new staff members, and further ad hoc administrative responsibilities.

  • excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters.
  • demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, to work independently and consistently, and to meet strict deadlines by prioritising own workload and handling multiple tasks.
  • well-developed relationship building and influencing skills with experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects.
  • advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
