Research Lead

About the role

The Strategy and Research Division works collaboratively to support the development and delivery of WorkSafe's Strategy, with a focus on organisational alignment ensuring we have an enterprise view of progress. The Research team facilitates research and gathers evidence and insights to inform strategy development and guide the delivery of strategic initiatives, as well as evaluating outcomes

The Research Lead provides authoritative advice to senior management to ensure WorkSafe's research approach meets strategic objectives and Executive expectations. This position works closely with senior management and external providers, leading a team of advisers to shape best practice research, ensure research and surveys are translated into actionable insights and meets organisational expectations of WorkSafe's research impact.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Provide authoritative advice and expertise to senior leaders on WorkSafe research, ensuring alignment with WorkSafe's Strategy.
  • Managing a team of research professionals including overseeing the day-to-day operational leadership of the team, ensuring their work aligns to WorkSafe strategy.
  • Lead the strategic planning of WorkSafe's research program, working with business leaders to develop the research project and communications plan. Provide expert technical advice for effective development and delivery of research to support the business, ensuring research projects are designed for purpose and meet business needs.
  • Provides high level advice and recommendations to senior and executive management on suitable internal or external research providers and requests for research proposals.
  • Oversees development, planning and delivery of WorkSafe's Voice of Customer platform CheckPoint, ensuring survey integration and outputs meet strategic objectives.

About you

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Lead to join our team. As a Research Lead, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leading and conducting research initiatives that drive policy development and decision-making processes. This is a dynamic role that offers the chance to work alongside talented professionals and shape the future of our organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership, research methodologies and data analysis. You will foster exceptional leadership, lead a positive workplace culture and be a strategic thinker partnering with senior leaders to innovate, implement and achieve Worksafe goals aligned throughout our strategy. You will have exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively.

You will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership position.
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills and ability to critically appraise research, identify concerns and develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills and ability to negotiate with and influence senior management, internal stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Ability to strategically project manage a diverse portfolio, by managing multiple timelines, complex tasks, varying team workloads and changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to deliver research projects on time, within budget and with high quality outputs.
  • Proven ability to work through uncertainty, changing priorities and to undertake complex tasks.
  • Experience in developing fit for purpose briefs in order to successfully procure research services through our tendering and evaluation processes.
  • Demonstrated application of qualitative, quantitative, and/or evaluative research skills, applied in various research contexts including public sector organisations.
  • Demonstrated use of technical skills to develop applied, solutions-focused research projects for business purposes.
  • Proven ability to translate research findings, extract knowledge and insights for use by decision makers.
  • Exemplary project management, presentation and writing skills, strong attention to detail and superior interpersonal skills.
  • You will have strong research, leadership and negotiation skills and will communicate effectively to influence key internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Post graduate qualifications in a related discipline are highly desirable
