An online booking system has created a greater level of access to Victoria’s large range of world-class research infrastructure.

ARIN will bring research infrastructure together in one online system, so that researchers can gain greater access to facilities when needed. The site will soon sport streamlined booking for instruments and services.

ARIN is designed to help researchers find the best resources with the most suitable timeframe and cost.

There is an incredible array of equipment scattered throughout labs and industrial sites in Victoria. From microscopes to large MRI scanners, genomics to flow cytometry - users will be able to access the latest technology and services needed to support their research, save time and cut costs.

The innovative new Australian Research Infrastructure Network (ARIN) has been in the works for over a year, funded by the Victorian Government and managed by Monash University and the Bio21 Cluster through the Victorian Platform Technologies Network (VPTN).

Research scientist Professor Ian Smith said the ARIN system will support a new level of collaboration and innovation.

“This is an outstanding example of the collaborative and shared resources vision for the future of Australian research industry, all with a goal of supporting our research needs, business innovation and productivity,” Professor Smith said.

“ARIN is one of the first systems in the world with this kind of functionality across technology and institutional boundaries. The user gets streamlined access. The facility gets an end-to-end process management software solution with extensive configuration options. The institution gets real insight into resource utilisation.”

The ARIN website is accessible here.
