The South Australian Government has announced nominations for the 2013 Science Excellence Awards are now open.

State Minister for Science, Grace Portolesi, officially opened nominations for the award, which recognise the achievements of South Australian scientists and science educators.

“These fantastic awards showcase the importance of South Australian scientists to our State’s social and economic future,” she said.

“The awards also reflect a strong partnership between researchers, industry and government to support outstanding science innovators. “

The Science Excellence Awards include nine awards over four categories:

    • SA Power Networks South Australian Scientist of the Year
    • PhD Research Excellence
      • Health and Medical Sciences
      •  Life and Environmental Sciences
      • Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering
    • Early Career STEM Professional
      • Health and Medical Sciences
      • Life and Environmental Sciences
      • Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering
    • Early Career STEM Educator of the Year
      • School Teaching
      • Tertiary Teaching

Nominations for the 2013 Science Excellence Awards close on Friday 24 May.

Winners of the awards will be announced at the 2013 gala event to be held at the Adelaide Town Hall on Friday 16 August.
