First stage applications for funding of urban water innovation projects under the Open Innovation Stream of the Smart Water Fund have been called and will close on Friday April 8.

Funding will be available to undertake innovative projects that investigate new technologies and approaches to urban water management. The Fund is particularly interested in receiving applications from businesses, research institutions and consultants that address a specific industry need and deliver valuable outcomes.

The Smart Water Fund is a joint initiative of the water industry and the Victorian Government. Open Innovation Stream funding involves two stages of applications, the first being a brief expression of interest which is due on Friday.

Shortlisted expressions of interest will be asked to submit a detailed proposal. The Fund will consider funding applications in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. Funding is available to any individual, business or professional research body that is equipped with the know-how and capability to undertake the proposed research project.
