We a looking for an Indigenous Research Development Manager to help facilitate and enable relationships with cultural knowledge holders and establish strategic partnerships with key stakeholders which underwrite and leverage opportunities that build on principles of co-design and co-deliver of Indigenous Science and Research.

The role will help identify opportunities for CSIRO research staff to collaborate in scientific and technological activities with Indigenous people, communities and enterprises and assist project leads to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, perspectives, and protocols within CSIRO’s scientific research agenda more broadly.

The Indigenous Research Development Manager will be part of a small team supporting the delivery of CSIRO’s Indigenous Science and Engagement Programs.

Your duties will include:

  • Support the design and implementation of CSIRO’s Indigenous Science and Engagement Programs (IS&EP) across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary and regionally dispersed team with business units to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO’s Indigenous Science and Engagement objectives, and the enhancement of CSIRO’s reputation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, demonstrate creativity in anticipating and adapting quickly to changes in Indigenous needs and market changes, and ensure alignment between Indigenous needs and CSIRO-IS&EP research objectives.
  • Support the establishment of trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge holders and organisations and valuing Indigenous knowledge systems and science.

Location: Western Australia
Salary: AU$121,455 to AU$142,321 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or an equivalent combination of relevant practical, managerial, or commercial experience with demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous Science and/or Research.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify, build and develop collaborative and strategic relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities and navigate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural sensitivities and protocols.
  • An ability to provide, engage and communicate Indigenous knowledges and perspectives on work related projects and a demonstrated track-record of genuine consideration of Traditional Owners and Custodians as part of a project process and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex and dynamic environment, adapt quickly and proactively to manage, re-prioritise multiple tasks, build relationships with internal and external stakeholders with an ability to influence and coach others to achieve organisational objectives.

Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements.
