Life Saving Victoria (LSV) is Victoria's peak water safety and lifesaving organisation built on the proud traditions and programs of our founding organisations, the Royal Life Saving Society – Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia.

Lifesaving has been an integral part of the Victorian way of life since 1904. Today LSV is a multifaceted volunteer-based community organisation with a focus on public safety and community wellbeing

Coordinator – Research and Evaluation

Life Saving Victoria (LSV) invites you to apply for our Coordinator position within our Research and Evaluation team. Based at our vibrant Port Melbourne Head Office, this full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to drive impactful research and evaluation initiatives.

As the Coordinator - Research and Evaluation, you will be integral to the successful execution of LSV’s research projects and health promotion activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Project Management: Support the end-to-end delivery of research projects, including planning, scoping, designing studies, submitting ethics applications, and evaluating outcomes. Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Program Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations for various LSV departments and the Play It Safe by the Water initiative. Your evaluations will help refine and enhance our programs and activities.
  • Research and Data Analysis: Direct literature reviews, collect and analyse data, and conduct focus groups and interviews. Design and manage surveys and questionnaires and utilise tools like NVivo and SPSS for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Results Dissemination: Promote research findings through diverse channels including conferences, public forums, newsletters, and social media. Ensure that our research results are effectively communicated to stakeholders and the public.
  • Content Review: Review and refine research outputs such as literature reviews, reports, and data analyses. Ensure the highest quality and accuracy in all documentation.
  • Website and Database Management: Maintain and update the Research pages on the LSV website and library. Manage the Endnote database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Administrative Support: Handle administrative tasks including preparing detailed reports, monitoring project budgets, and supporting financial management and sponsorship proposals. Manage data, statistics, and reporting to support various initiatives.

We seek a candidate with:

  • Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in public health, research, or a related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis (e.g., SPSS), and program evaluation. Familiarity with NVivo is advantageous.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SPSS, online survey tools (e.g., Survey Monkey), and data management software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing and presenting high-quality reports and documents for diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work outside regular business hours as needed and hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Child Safety: Ability to obtain an employee Working with Children Check.

Previous experience with sporting, emergency service, or volunteer-based organisations, along with an interest in water safety and lifesaving, is highly desirable.
