We are now offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time and fixed term appointment (2 Years) to the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the IsoTropics Geochemistry Laboratory, Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) at JCU. The position will be based on the Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus (Douglas, QLD Australia), with remuneration at Academic Level A $68,350 - $91,332 per annum plus up to 17% employer contributions to UniSuper. 

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

As part of a highly motivated team of researchers within the newly established IsoTropics Geochemistry Lab, you will be able to apply your geochemical expertise to a range of on-going research projects.   You will play an integral role in the further development of the laboratory by helping establish new high throughput and/or automated systems for element purification, trace element and isotope analyses. These developments will be applied to existing and future projects, in a variety of contexts across biogeochemistry, cosmochemistry, marine geoscience, and conventional geological applications (e.g. source tracing, exploration and geochronology).

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

A PhD qualification (or near completion) in Geochemistry, Geology or a related field is required. Demonstrated expertise/experience in solution-based and/or in situ isotope geochemistry is highly sought after, e.g. non-conventional stable isotopes (Cu, Fe, Zn, etc.) or radiogenic isotope systems (Sr, Nd, etc.). You will work in collaboration with EES researchers, JCU staff and external collaborators/partners to conduct and publish research, and to further the growth and development of the IsoTropics Geochemistry Laboratory. You will also have the opportunity to develop your own research agenda within this role.
