EL1 Assistant Director/Research & Analyst 


Our client, a Federal Government Department, responsible for social policies and programs is seeking an EL1 Researcher/Analyst to work within the National Centre for Longitudinal Data. The aim of the NCLD is to promote a longitudinal evidence base that informs policies and practices to improve the lifetime wellbeing of people and families in Australia. This researcher/analyst position has responsibility for the analysis and dissemination of survey findings to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

This position manages a small team and works collaboratively with other areas within the NCLD, across the department, and with external stakeholders. The role involves analysing quantitative information to explore complex problems and deliver outcomes across a number of public policy areas. This requires high quality research, strategic planning and project management skills and the ability to communicate findings in a proactive, customised and accessible way.

Duties of the role will involve:

  • Use quantitative and qualitative research methods to critically evaluate information to interpret and analyse longitudinal survey data
  • Use large datasets to conduct data analysis and report results .
  • Provide timely, well informed data inputs to contribute to current and emerging policy issues and discussions.
  • Use high-level written communication skills to translate data findings to an accessible format for a policy audience.
  • Aanalyse data, review literature and summarise and synthesise evidence.
  • Draft complex proposals, project plans, correspondence, reports, and briefs for the Secretary, the Minister and parliamentary processes.

Demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Expertise in working with longitudinal data sets
  • Comprehensive understanding of multivariate data analysis
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Department's social policies, programs and frameworks
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the theory and application of policy modelling for a range of different purposes
  • Qualifications in research, qualitative and/or qualitative analysis, statistics, economics or social policy would be an advantage.
In addition, you will need to be an Australian citizen, with a Baseline clearance or be willing to obtain.
