Who is Medlab Clinical?

Medlab Clinical Ltd is an ASX listed certified biotechnology company, experienced in microbiome research that is being applied towards developing scientific-based pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. We pride ourselves on being an industry leader within this field and conduct our research within our purpose built PC2 accredited laboratory.

The Opportunity

Join and support the research facility’s operation of the R&D Department to enable effective development of Medlab’s portfolio of nutraceutical and pharmaceutical medicines.  The main undertaking of this role includes team planning, and developmental laboratory activities with the ability to carry out data analysis and report writing.

As a Research Scientist, duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop new or advanced research skills and competencies as directed by the research team relevant to Medlab’s nanotechnology research focus.
  • Take responsibility for day to day advice and support of research outputs.
  • Laboratory and equipment maintenance.
  • Engage with the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination.

About You 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science qualification in the Biological Sciences or in Chemistry. It would be desirable that the applicant has further tertiary qualifications such as a Master’s degree or PhD in the biochemical sciences.

It is imperative that the applicant has demonstrated ability to follow standard operating procedures, and a capacity to record results accurately and clearly along with effective time management skills. Prior work experience with exposure to regulated environments or quality systems will be highly regarded.

Success will be measured by applicant’s ability to plan and contribute to analytical processes and procedures, data analyses and generate well-articulated scientific reports.  In addition, you will be accountable to your own deliverables & outcomes and be results & process driven.

Specifically, the candidate will have

  • demonstrated clear record keeping skills with special attention to data traceability and unexpected observations;
  • demonstrated fluency in dataset analytics and be familiar with data interpretation;
  • an understanding of standard biochemical and microbiological (desirable but not essential) techniques;
  • experience in instrumentation proficiency and capacity including GC/MS and HPLC/MS on bio-derived fractions and interpret and communicate the results if deemed to do so in multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts;
  • experience in laboratory PC2 compliance.
