We currently have the opportunity for two Curriculum Writers on short fixed-term contracts as part of our Communication program, each developing one of the following:

  • Media Law & Accountability (Graduate Certificate) on a 12-week contract
  • Digital Media Industries (Diploma) on a 16-week contract

Reporting to the Project Manager Curriculum Development, works in collaboration with the Learning Experience Designers and Program Manager Communication to develop quality learning experiences for our domestic and international students by applying their disciplinary knowledge and expertise to develop high quality curriculum and assessments for the subject, ensuring an engaging and interactive blended learning experience

This role will be required to commit and deliver outputs against a defined timeline, as set out in a project plan.

About the role
This position is responsible for:

  • Providing disciplinary expertise to the development of course materials and assessments in a blended environment, aligned with established learning sequences and frameworks, applying sound instructional principles and methodologies oriented to best practice learning and teaching pedagogies and guided by the UTS College Model of Learning
  • Designing, authoring and co creating interactive learning artefacts (such as videos, quizzes, self-guided activities) in collaboration with the Learning Experience Designer
  • Developing innovative authentic assessments, making the best use of technology and pedagogy within an online/blended learning environment with meaningful rubrics and feedback
  • Collaborating with the Learning Experience Designer to plan interactive synchronous and asynchronous learning activities for delivery in a blended environment
  • Embedding English language and literacy skills into curriculum materials
  • Working in collaboration with the Learning Experience Designer to ensure the consistency of the look and feel, organisation and structure of the high-quality online presence of the subject with other subjects in the revised Foundation program.
  • Reviewing materials and make changes as required based on feedback and direction from the Learning Experience Designer and the Program Manager
  • Participating in meetings and briefings as required


About you
To succeed in this role you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree related to the subject discipline (a Master’s degree is preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience and a passion for curriculum development in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice curriculum design, adult learning principles, and effective assessment strategies
  • Experience in the design and development of high-quality learning resources for pathway students, particularly in a blended environment
  • Knowledge and skills in educational technology (Canvas or other learning management system preferred)
  • An understanding and appreciation for embedding English language and literacy skills into curriculum
  • The ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage fluctuating workflows and priorities
  • A collaborative approach, including the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • A creative mind with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for professional development, including keeping updated on current trends and activities
