About This Opportunity
The primary purpose of the position is to support and coordinate direct research assistance to the Supervisor, facilitating research that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of regional, rural, and remote Australians. Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality and provide impartial advice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the recruitment and consenting of research participants by maintaining case files in accordance with study protocols, University policy and statutory requirements. Training will be provided to undertake this responsibility.
- Assist in conducting participant interviews, data collection, management, and analysis in accordance with study protocols, University policy and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up to date database files and/or records in accordance with study protocols, University policy and national legislation.
This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed-term position for up to 2 years.
At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $74,378 - $82,842, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $87,023 - $96,926 annually.
About You /Selection Criteria
- Understanding of and experience working in rural areas in a research environment, with the ability to establish and assist in research projects.
- Completion of a degree with relevant work experience in the areas of health sciences, epidemiology, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education and training.
- Excellent practical research skills and experience in relevant research methodology and techniques required for this body of research.
- Organisational, administrative and time management skills, with a focus on research activities.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues through negotiation and consultation with other team members.
- Well-organised, methodical and self-motivated.
- High-level computer skills in a variety of packages.
- Experience in building and maintaining co-operative working relations with stakeholders both internal and external.
- Willingness and ability to demonstrate initiative, work independently on routine procedures, and accept responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality and provide impartial advice.
Desirable
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians
- Current Queensland driver's license
- Experience in and a commitment to living and working in rural and/or regional Australia.
In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:
- Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
- Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
