About the job
Swinburne is looking for a Nanofabrication Technician to work in our Nanophotonics Fabrication Facility. Our Facility aims to develop the research strengths of the Centre and Faculty in directions of novel nano-materials for optics and bio-medical devices, sensing, ultra-short laser science, and new construction and energy harvesting materials.

Working closely with our postdoctoral researchers and students (post and under-graduate), you will provide support and training to them and develop new processes to help them in the lab. Your daily accountabilities will include major equipment operation and maintenance, process development and administration.

Using your problem solving skills, you will be able to easily navigate the complexities of our equipment that include mask aligners; electron-beam lithography; ion-beam lithography; PECVD; sputter coating; plasma etching and ultra-fast laser fabrication.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• A BSc degree with proven relevant experience; or extensive experience and expertise in technical and administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in nanofabrication processes, including electron-beam and ion-beam lithography, Evaporation PVD sputter coatings, PE-CVD, and other material preparation and handling processes.
• Experience with clean room maintenance, organisation and safety.
