The Role
The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia’s economic and national security landscape for decades to come.
The two roles will oversee the acoustic signature and non-acoustic signature technical programs respectively. They will provide technical management in developing and maintaining capability within Australia to characterise and minimise submarine signatures of current and future platforms, initiating and managing collaborative partnerships, and liaisons with national and international stakeholders. Australia is leveraging the technology, capability and design expertise from the UK and US and these roles will be involved in developing and defining the ASA’s signature management capability for conventionally-armed, nuclear powered submarines.

The Technology Division is responsible for providing design control, independent technical advice, assurance and authority that will support the development and future operation of the nuclear-powered submarine fleet.

Our Ideal Candidate
A Signature Technical Lead will have extensive knowledge and experience relating to acoustic and/or non-acoustic prediction and control, especially as applied to maritime platforms. They will provide a strategic level of specialist, professional and technical expertise relating to their function areas. They will initiate, establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with a network of stakeholders internally and externally, and have the ability to recognise shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
We are seeking talented people who can work collaboratively and have a passion for applying their technical skills and knowledge to manage and support the development and implementation of acoustic and/or non-acoustic signature management of nuclear powered submarines.
