About this Opportunity
AIMS is a world leader in coral reef research, spanning scales from microbes to ecosystems. We are looking for an enthusiastic microbiologist who will apply their advanced knowledge and experience to lead and deliver projects that improve understanding of the functions of microbes in marine organisms and ecosystems, their responses to perturbations and their diagnostic value as bioindicators. A specific focus will be research on the microbiological dimensions involved in developing innovative coral propagation and restoration technologies, including diagnosing and treating coral diseases and the development and application of novel probiotic treatments to improve coral nutrition, survival and growth in aquaculture. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of experienced marine ecologists, geneticists, microbiologists, aquarists and bioinformaticians.

About You
Your tertiary qualifications and technical skills combined with broad research post doctoral experience  in microbiology allow you to identify and realise innovative research opportunities and to build collaborations to integrate microbiological research with other areas of AIMS science. You are enthusiastic to apply your specialist knowledge to environmental challenges such as the adaptation to climate change and are keen to work as a member or leader of multidisciplinary project teams to develop innovative solutions for coral reefs under pressure.
