SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST

  • $93,867 – $113,572 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term, 3 years
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Ellinbank (flexibility may be available)

Your focus in this position will be research projects that aim to improve the profitability of pasture based dairy systems. This will be achieved through innovative research and science excellence, supported by technical efficiency, business processes, technology adoption and knowledge management.

Your role will be to –

  • lead and contribute to the design and implementation of research project tasks;
  • co-lead reporting on the research, both internally and to external stakeholders;
  • preparation of scientific publications and other written reports; and
  • provide input into other research projects, as directed by the supervisor.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate –

  • a PhD in agronomy and/or the application of sensor technologies or a related discipline, post graduate training and relevant work experience;
  • excellent knowledge of the principles, application and interpretation of non-destructive sensor technologies in agricultural production systems;
  • research experience in agronomy and/or the application of sensor technologies in agricultural systems;
  • effective participation and leadership of research project teams, and demonstrated high levels of initiative;
  • a record of attracting funding for relevant research;
  • a track record of publication in science journals, presentations at science conferences, with ability to effectively present results of research to a range of audiences;
  • effective communication skills that facilitate establishment and maintenance of relationships with peers, clients and the media; and
  • experience in staff supervision.
