Postdoctoral Fellow - [Archived Advertisement]

Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) is an international leader in brain and nervous system research, and endeavours to find the causes of and cures for neurological and psychiatric diseases.

A postdoctoral fellow is required to join the Research Unit for Schizophrenia Epidemiology (RUSE) to work on an externally funded project that aims to determine risk and resilience profiles among maltreated children in the NSW population. The project uses extant longitudinal data obtained within the New South Wales Child Development Study (NSW-CDS), via record linkage of multi-agency administrative records, combined with cross-sectional assessments for children at age 5 and 11 years.  The funded project is conducted in collaboration with researchers affiliated with UNSW Schools of Psychiatry and Social Sciences, the Social Policy Research Centre, and relevant government partners. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct advanced statistical analyses according to the research plans, and work with lead investigators to prepare scientific publications, policy briefs, and other reporting materials as required. This full-time (35 hours per week), fixed term position is for 18 months with excellent prospects of renewal.

Essential criteria:

• PhD in Psychology, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Child Welfare, or other relevant discipline
• Demonstrated interest in developmental psychopathology and/or childhood maltreatment (e.g., record of publication in a relevant area)
• Experience conducting advanced longitudinal statistical analyses (e.g., latent transition modelling, latent trajectory analyses, longitudinal mixed modelling)
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other researchers, professionalgroups, or similar
• High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisational and record keeping skills

Desirable criteria:

• Exposure to Government administrative data collections obtained through data linkage
• Exposure to the NSW Child Protection system and/or non-government community welfare services
