How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
Reporting to the Team Leader Waste Services you will lead a highly motivated and engaged team that is responsible for waste and recycling services for the commercial sector. This includes the development and expansion of the innovative waste and recycling hub networks to accommodate city growth while improving resource recovery and amenity outcomes. The position will provide leadership in managing waste and recycling issues within the CBD and be a key stakeholder in a range of projects being implemented to our streets and laneways as our beautiful city recovers from the impacts of Covid.
The successful candidate will be an authentic and engaging leader, and will provide the knowledge and skills for their team to thrive. Demonstrating strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build and manage strong relationships with key stakeholders (internal/external). You will possess strong analytical and lateral thinking skills to take the initiative, drive change and implement innovation.

•Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
•Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve high performance outcomes with coaching skills to develop team capabilities, team cohesion and the ability to effectively manage conflict and under performance.
•Tertiary qualification and/or significant experience and proven achievement in a relevant field.
•A record of achievement and innovation in people management and leadership in a dynamic and political environment, and creating an environment focussed on staff engagement, accountability and decision making.
•Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and maintain business plans and associated budgetary and financial management requirements.
•High level contract and project management skills with the ability to scope and manage activities for major municipal services that are of high quality, timely and meet budget.
•Demonstrated knowledge and application of waste management principles and practices necessary to strategically manage the waste generated within the City.
