The Cancer Research Division is an integrated series of strongly interactive Research Groups undertaking research aimed at increasing the international knowledge base on the development, progression, treatment and prevention of human cancers. The current emphasis centres on developing a deeper understanding of the control of cellular proliferation and differentiation in hormone-dependent cancers particularly breast, prostate and ovarian cancer. The Cancer Division incorporates a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, pathologists, nurses and support staff.
Integral to the Cancer Division are its biobanks that contains tissue and blood samples from consented participants that are used to discover the genetic profile of cancer and to determine ways to treat cancer. We are currently seeking a Technician to undertake blood-processing duties to expand the collection of the biobanks.
The Opportunity
The Blood Processing Technician will be responsible for processing blood samples and then preparing the samples for storage and entry of information onto a database. The ordering of supplies, adherence to occupational health and safety guidelines and record keeping are also part of the responsibilities of the incumbent.
