Your new role

In this newly created role, you will lead the Master of Occupational Therapy program and work as part of a state-wide team to design and deliver core components of our suite of allied health courses. As Academic Lead you will work closely with the Departments of Health and Education, the Tasmanian Health Service and community stakeholders to deliver high-quality learning experiences through appropriate place-based curriculum. Leading a team supporting students to become evidence-based practitioners who can work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams will see you succeed in this career defining role. You will advance the School Learning and Teaching agenda and oversee annual quality review cycles of entry-to-practice Occupational Therapy and other professional development courses in accordance with UTAS policies and accreditation requirements.

The Associate Professor/Professor in Occupational Therapy will join the School of Health Sciences within the College of Health and Medicine as part of the Allied Health Expansion Program. The Allied Health Expansion program is creating new opportunities to better support the Allied Health labour force needs in Tasmania. We are collaborating with government, health professionals, industry and local Tasmanian communities to increase allied health education, training and research opportunities in Tasmania.

What You’ll need to succeed

As a highly influential academic leader, you will demonstrate a strong record in team building and creating effective working relationships, along with a capacity to foster excellence in research and teaching. Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia under the auspices of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Authority (AHPRA) will enable you to effectively deliver on the expectations of the role. Achievement in University-level multidisciplinary learning and teaching, with demonstrated experience in innovative blended learning & teaching andragogy and digital technologies will ensure you have the capability to support delivery of this contemporary curriculum. Experience and a passion for leading and mentoring others will mean you are well placed to effectively support and facilitate the career development of staff.
