The School of Health Sciences is comprised of Nursing, Biomedical Sciences and Rural Health. Students study undergraduate nursing degrees across campuses in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie in Tasmania and in Rozelle and Darlinghurst in Sydney. Additionally, a large number of postgraduate students study a range of specialised online coursework programs. The School has a diverse translational research agenda in health service delivery, rural health, biomedical science, sports science, healthy lifestyles and human performance.

The Head of Nursing will lead and manage the discipline’s learning and teaching, research, internationalisation and engagement activities. The Head of Nursing provides high-level advice and assistance to the Head of School of Health Sciences and is a member of the School’s leadership group.

The Head of Nursing will have: a PhD and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia; an outstanding national reputation as an academic leader in nursing education, nursing practice and/or research; a contemporary approach to pedagogy; established professional networks; and the capacity to inspire confidence and respect.
