The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health has more than 600 staff and students who are passionately committed to researching the way the brain works. We are internationally renowned for our discoveries and research on the central nervous system and associated brain disorders. Key areas of interest include addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, depression, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, stroke and traumatic and spinal cord injury.

An excellent opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to join an outstanding team of scientists and staff, and work within the Addiction Neuroscience Laboratory within our Mental Health Theme.

The successful candidate will have Postgraduate qualifications in Neuroscience or a similar field and be a highly skilled scientist proficient in whole cell electrophysiology. Expertise in patch clamp recordings of brain slices is required. The candidate is to have excellent communication skills as well as an enthusiastic and friendly collaborative working style.

An indicative salary in the range of $82,086 to $85,101 commensurate with experience is offered, plus generous superannuation and salary packaging options.
