About the role:
An excellent opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to join an outstanding team of scientists and staff, and work within the Public Health and Health Services Research team of the Stroke Division, based at the Florey’s Heidelberg campus in Victoria. The position will primarily provide support to our team which is involved in the implementation and evaluation of technological innovation in delivering health care. Projects include the Victorian Stroke Telemedicine (VST) service (www.vst.org.au), the Pulsara Communication App (Pulsara) Project and the Melbourne Mobile Stroke Unit.

The VST service is the largest of its kind in Australia and provides 24/7 on-call stroke specialist consultations for Emergency Department staff in 17 hospitals across Victoria. The Pulsara project streamlines communication between paramedics and emergency department personnel, as well as between hospital departments, using a smartphone app. The Melbourne Mobile Stroke Unit, the first in Australia, is an ambulance which has brain scanning equipment allowing assessment and treatment of patients with suspected stroke to occur before being transported to hospital.

The candidate will be responsible for conducting and providing support for quantitative and qualitative data collection (including checking, processing and analysis), performing data entry and verifications of data, undertaking literature searches, and assisting in the preparation of ethics applications, project reports and publications, as required. The role does include some administrative support aspects (e.g. organising meetings, minute taking, etc.).

About you:
The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor degree in a science or health related field
  • Strong data management skills
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative statistical analyses using relevant computer software
  • excellent attention to detail and well developed communication, organisational and administration skills.

The salary on offer is in the range of $64,929 - $72,346 commensurate with experience, plus generous superannuation and salary packaging options.
