The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health has more than 600 staff and students who are passionately committed to researching the way the brain works. We are internationally renowned for our discoveries and research on the central nervous system and associated brain disorders. Key areas of interest include addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, depression, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, stroke and traumatic and spinal cord injury.

An excellent opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to join an outstanding team of scientists and staff, and work within the Laboratory Services group. The role will primarily be responsible for  overseeing the efficient and effective implementation and maintenance of agreed management practices for shared laboratory equipment, space and laboratory services across all sites, ensure all compliance and legislative requirements are met, including PC2 laboratory requirements, undertake risk assessments and auditing of safe work practices. This position requires frequent travel and liaison across all Florey sites.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an laboratory environment with a relevant degree in science or equivalent. Knowledge in working in PC2 laboratories is required including undertaking risk assessments and development of safe work procedures.

An indicative salary in the range of $81,016 to $84,292 commensurate with experience is offered plus 14%/17% superannuation and generous salary packaging options.
