The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on an ARC Linkage project “Developing a personalised Music Affect Recommender System” awarded to Chief Investigator Professor Roger Dean and Partner Investigators Associate Professor David Bainbridge (The University of Waikato), Mr John Davis (Australian Music Centre Ltd) and Mr Simon Chambers (Australasian Performing Right Association Ltd/APRA).

The Fellow will be responsible for conducting research in areas of timbral cognition and computational models. The work will involve designing and running behavioural experiments, analysing the data, and developing models.

The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is an interdisciplinary research institute of Western Sydney University. We study the scientific bases of human communication. Research at MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is conducted in five interdisciplinary research programs - Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, Human-Machine Interaction, Multisensory Communication, Music Cognition & Action and Speech & Language. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for a period of 15 months located on the Bankstown Campus within the Music Cognition and Action Research Program.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A (Step 3-4) $93,659 to $99,365 p.a. (comprising Salary $84,498 to $89,646 p.a., plus 9.5% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading)

The appointee may become eligible for 17% employer superannuation contribution following 12 months continuous service.
