The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Research & Innovation Office is recruiting for a Compliance Officer who will be responsible for providing support to the University to meet its obligations under the Federal Government legislations that broadly concern the control of exports and trade sanctions.

This role will offer you a fantastic opportunity to build upon your risk management and compliance experience in the University/Higher Education sector and also your contract drafting and negotiation experience.

As Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for refining the framework and policy settings for risk management and compliance under Federal Government legislations that broadly concern the control of exports (physical and intangible) and trade sanctions.

The Compliance Officer will also contribute to the success of the UTS research strategy through the efficient provision of contract negotiation.

Main Skills/ Experience required:

  • As this is a position that you can truly make your own, you will be a self-motivated, highly organised individual with a mature and flexible approach to work.
  • You will have the capacity to understand and interpret the technicalities of the relevant legislation and to communicate this with University staff and students.
  • You will have knowledge of and experience in contracts management sufficient to work independently.
  • You will possess high level written and oral communication skills, strong time management and organisational skills, and the ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities. 
  • You will see yourself as someone who is highly credible and capable of influencing and persuading a diverse research community.
  • Your ability to provide sound advice and guidance will be critical to your success. This is a role that will offer you a degree of latitude, so a willingness to take ownership of projects and processes and be held accountable is of the upmost importance.

Remuneration

Salary Range: $84,425 to $93,394 pa (HEW 7)

The university offers 9.5% employer provided superannuation. This appointment will be a fixed term contract on a full time basis for a period of 12 months.
