The School of Computer Science is recruiting for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Interaction Design to play a key role in conducting research, securing research funding and achieving world-standard research outcomes. In addition, the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will teach subjects in the broad area of Interaction Design as part of our undergraduate and postgraduate course offerings, including but not limited to:
- Fundamentals of Interaction Design
- Advanced Interaction Design
- Interaction Design Studio
- Human-Centred Design Methods.
The School of Computer Science is internationally recognised as one of Australia’s most industry-focused leaders in research, teaching and learning in computer science, information technology and information systems. The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Campus in Ultimo and will report directly to the Head of Discipline, Associate Professor Andrew Johnston.
About the role
The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will work closely with the Head of School Computer Science and Deputy Head of School (Teaching & Learning) and the academic team to develop and deliver course content. The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will work closely with the Educational Designer to align content and delivery to UTS Model of Learning and ensure that the School of Computer Science curriculum meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Role requirements include:
- Proven ability to teach and coordinate subjects related to the School portfolio and contribute to curriculum development.
- Proven ability to undertake research.
- Proven ability to forge links with the industry and other key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interest in interaction design/user experience and related areas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or directly relevant areas.
- A doctorate in an appropriate field as well as a successful record of research achievement.
- Research experience in Interaction Design/Human-Computer Interaction.
Base Salary Range: $105,021 to $146,614 pa (Level B - C)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
