Due to continued growth, the Institute for Public Policy and Governance (UTS IPPG) has a vacancy for a dynamic Manager, Teaching and Learning to join our team. The position will focus on the growth, management and delivery of professional development programs within the UTS Institute for Public Policy and Governance (UTS IPPG).

About the Institute
The Institute for Public Policy and Governance (IPPG) at the University of Technology Sydney is a leading group of educators, researchers and practitioners in the areas of public administration, public policy, social research, stakeholder engagement, and leadership.

We undertake applied social, behavioural and academic research, policy advisory, graduate education and professional development.

UTS:IPPG offers a variety of quality teaching and learning programs, incorporating short courses and postgraduate studies. Courses are largely focussed on the public sector, cover an extensive range of topics, from general management and leadership to strategic planning, evaluation, community engagement and technical local government topics.

Courses include a suite of specialised local government programs to support the development of the sector. Revenue from these programs currenty exceeds $1.3m per annum, and has significant growth potential.

About the role
The role of Manager, Teaching and Learning is responsible for the growth, management and development of the short course teaching and learning program. The position oversees course content, coordinates and promotes UTS IPPG’s high quality range of courses in a highly competitive environment. The role includes responsibility for co-ordinating the provision of face-to-face, on-line and tailored in-house training courses for client organisations.

Day to day you will be responsible for:

  • Growing and developing the IPPG short course program through identifying and pursuing strategies and new opportunities for program development, on-line delivery and delivery through engagement with partners and stakeholders
  • Coordinating, overseeing and directly contributing to the development, design and delivery of the short courses
  • Working closely with our marketing team to promote the program
  • Working with the graduate studies coordinators to enhance the pathway from short courses to graduate programs
  • Achieving financial targets, monitoring efficiency and quality, and reporting
  • Ensuring the Institute’s short course and academic programs enhance, are informed by and contribute to our consulting and research

To be successful in gaining the role you will have:

  • Experience in managing and growing a learning and development program
  • Significant experience of professional development short course design and delivery
  • High level commercial acumen, including the ability to generate new business opportunities aligned to the organisation’s strategic objectives 
  • Excellent contract negotiation, financial reporting and project management skills
  • Ability to create and sustain a client-focused service culture
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of contemporary methods and trends in adult education
  • This position has 3 direct reports

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience 
  • Desirable: Certificate 4 in adult learning

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $114,731 to $120,194 pa (HEW 9)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
