Reporting in to Distinguished Professor Guoxiu Wang as a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Research Fellow, you will conduct cutting-edge research in the area of rechargeable sodium-ion battery systems. The position is supported by Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project, Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Technology Sydney.

 About the Centre

The Centre for Clean Energy Technology  focuses on the development of efficient devices for energy harvesting, storage, and conversion.

Taking a rational approach, we combine first principles calculation and modelling, novel materials architecture design and synthesis, and system integration in our teaching and research practice. We adapt our research activities to the global low-carbon energy context and aim to achieve innovations and breakthroughs in zero-emission energies. Our ultimate goal is to support the reduction of carbon footprint and realisation of sustainable development from both fundamental and applied research.

About you

To be successful in securing the role you will have:

  • doctoral qualifications in Chemistry (or Electrochemistry), or Materials Science & Engineering, or a related field
  • extensive knowledge of electrochemical energy storage and conversion, in particular, rechargeable battery technology
  • previous experience in research with a track record of peer reviewed publications
  • experience in battery design, fabrication and testing in addition to previous experience in lithium batteries and electrode materials
  • demonstrated skills in inorganic and organic synthesis and characterisation as well as strong skills in advanced synthesis for carbon-based materials
  • skills in materials characterisation techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, Raman and FTIR
  • demonstrated capacity to work independently as well we as the ability to work in a team.

Base Salary Range: $75,871 to $115,486 pa (Level A/B)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a fixed term, full-time basis for three years.
