Ref. IRC97873

UTS has a bold vision to be a world-leading university of technology. We are a dynamic and innovative university in central Sydney, consistently ranked the top young university in Australia. With a culturally diverse campus life and extensive international exchange and research programs, UTS prepares graduates for the workplaces of today and tomorrow.

This role offers the opportunity to take a leading role in the development of Built Environment Informatics and Innovation research within the School while working cooperatively with others across the Faculty; exploring and leveraging their ideas, opinions and involvement to further develop the participatory, empowered environment in the School.

As part of UTS’s innovative and vibrant Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building, you will join the School of Built Environment on a continuing appointment at either the Associate Professor or Professor level; for a fixed term of five years, 40% of your appointment will be as Research Centre Director, and 60% will be a standard academic role, with a balanced teaching / research portfolio.  At the conclusion of the term as Research Centre Director (which is potentially renewable, based on Centre performance), 100% of the appointment would revert to a standard balanced academic role.

As the School embarks on an exciting phase of growth, capable and motivated academics are needed to build upon the Built Environment research agenda.  As Research Centre Director, you will lead the development of the Built Environment Informatics and Innovation (BEII) Research Centre, generating significant research grants and developing highly effective team based research programs. For the balance of your appointment, you will deliver high quality teaching in subjects at the undergraduate or post-graduate level; the School offers degrees in Property Economics and Construction Project Management (at the undergraduate level), and Property Development, Real Estate Investment, Planning, and Project Management at the postgraduate level. You will build and lead your own research teams (including HDR students), actively presenting ongoing research to the Faculty and School and fostering productive links with other scholars and industry partners on the global stage.

It is an exciting time to join the faculty and to be in Sydney, with the plethora of large scale construction, urban regeneration, and infrastructure projects taking place. As the successful candidate, you can be assured that you will be working with a supportive cohort of academics and will receive solid support from the institution in regard to research.

UTS is known for our industry focus, practice-based teaching and learning, real world research and our location. With state-of-the-art campuses and facilities, we’re preparing students to become global thinkers, leaders and innovators.

Remuneration

Salary Range: Associate Professor: $146,412 to $155,915; Professor: $182,053

The university offers 17% employer provided superannuation in addition to the base salary. This appointment will be on a continuing full-time basis with the Research Centre Director role fixed term for 5 years.
