Since our establishment in 1936, Cancer Council Victoria has developed an international reputation for our innovative work in cancer research, prevention and support. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we play a leading role in reducing the impact of all cancers on all people. The Cancer Epidemiology and Intelligence Division (CEID) conducts a broad range of research aimed at expanding our understanding of the factors that contribute to or protect against the development of cancer. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, dieticians and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our health.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Research Officer to contribute to a three year research project. The project will use the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International/University of Bristol framework to synthesise key putative mechanistic pathways underlying the association of physical inactivity and breast cancer risk.

Working within the Cancer Epidemiology and Intelligence Division team and reporting to the Principal Research Fellow, your role is to:

  • Provide input and advice in development of literature search strategies
  • Conduct comprehensive literature searches across databases, identifying and conducting systematic review of relevant literature
  • Synthesise evidence to contribute to manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at research meeting and conferences
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of research outcomes.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience undertaking systematic reviews.
  • Sound understanding of cancer biology
  • Proven ability to write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and present findings at meetings and conferences
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships

What we can offer you

This part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed term position to 31 December 2021 provides a salary within range $68,616 - $77,148 pa ($41,175 - $46,288 pro rata for part-time) plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
