Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs.

The Cancer Epidemiology & Intelligence Division (CEID) conducts a broad range of research aimed at expanding our understanding of the factors that contribute to or protect against the development of cancer, or survival following a cancer diagnosis. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, dieticians and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our health. CEID research is based on several studies and programs that contribute to the generation of intelligence about cancer.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Cancer Epidemiology & Intelligence Division, managing implementation of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services funded project “Communicating cancer cluster information to the general public”.

Reporting to the Head of Division, your role is to:

  • Review evidence of best practice, including review of international sources on communication procedures, and running consultative interviews with relevant public health professionals and members of the general public.
  • Generate and test evidence-based recommendations for communication tools and targeted messaging, that can be used when discussing cancer clusters with the general public.
  • Analyse, interpret and report results of qualitative and quantitative statistical analyses to the research team, including developing and maintaining databases for the study.
  • Manage project delivery including developing and implementing project protocols and instruments, briefs, communications, quality control and evaluation mechanisms.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a science or health-related field
  • Substantial experience managing projects to completion in a research, health or policy-related environment, including demonstrated experience in protocol development and implementation
  • Sound understanding of epidemiological or behavioural research design and scientific principles
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships with researchers, government partners, colleagues and various other project stakeholders

What we can offer you

This part-time (0.5 FTE) fixed term position for 12 months provides a salary within range $70,000-$87,000 pa ($35,000 - $43,500 pro rata for part-time) plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card. We also offer a flexible and friendly work environment, social and wellbeing activities and a location close to public transport.
