About your environment

Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. Within the Behavioural Science Division, the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer (CBRC) conducts high quality applied behavioural research to inform and influence cancer control policies, programs and services, in order to reduce the impact of cancer on the Victorian community. The Centre’s work program encompasses behavioural research in the areas of: tobacco control; skin cancer prevention; obesity prevention; alcohol harm prevention and cancer screening. The Centre also undertakes evaluation of cancer prevention and screening programs and services housed within Cancer Council Victoria, including high profile public communication programs such as Quit and SunSmart.

Quit Victoria (Quit) is a joint initiative of Cancer Council, the Victorian Department of Health and VicHealth, dedicated to ending the tobacco toll through community interventions, mass media, advocacy, health professional training and providing policy advice based on the best available evidence. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal people, and in culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

About your opportunity

We are seeking an Evaluation Coordinator to join the CBRC team, to coordinate evaluation of Quit services, projects and programs. Reporting to the Quit Research and Evaluation Manager and the Quit Behavioural Scientist, your role is to:

  • Develop and implement robust evaluation systems to support ongoing program review and development, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Build capacity within the Quit team to support effective implementation of evaluation frameworks.
  • Contribute to reporting and monitoring of programs and services to ensure evaluation projects stay within scope and budget.
  • Establish relationships across teams and with external partners to promote knowledge-building within cancer research, prevention and evaluation.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, psychology, social work, public health, community development or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in program evaluation including design, data collection, data analysis, reporting and dissemination.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, conduct and interpret qualitative and quantitative evaluations measuring impacts on behaviour through descriptive and statistical analyses, including using SPSS, STATA or similar.
  • Excellent relationship and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate evaluation findings across a range of mediums and audiences.

What we can offer you

This full-time fixed term position for 2 years provides a salary within range $77,000 - $90,000 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
