Research Fellow or Senior Research Officer (CEID.171)

  • Work collaboratively with a leading research centre
  • Full time fixed term position for 2 years – St Kilda Road, Melbourne

About your environment

Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. The Cancer Epidemiology & Intelligence Division (CEID) conducts a broad range of research aimed at expanding our understanding of the factors that contribute to or protect against the development of cancer, or survival following a cancer diagnosis. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, dieticians and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our health.

Research project overview

Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) have established an ongoing collaboration that includes an established annual record linkage of data on Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) incident cancers to hospital inpatient and emergency department data and population-based radiotherapy data, as well as vital status information from the Victorian and national death registries. The analysis of the linked dataset will facilitate the provision of information relevant to important research and related questions that are central to policy and practice in the Victorian context, and allow these questions to be addressed in a timely and efficient manner. These analyses will also be important in measuring performance against the Victorian Cancer Plan and Victoria’s contribution to the National Cancer Work Plan.
