About your environment
Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs.
The Nigel Gray Fellowship division consists of staff employed to work as part of the Nigel Gray Distinguished Fellow in Cancer Prevention's team. This team is led by Ron Borland, the current Nigel Gray Fellow. It is supported from research grant moneys. As such, appointments within the group are typically for the duration of funded research projects. Staff employed though portions of money from different grants will typically be contracts that only extend for a period where their full salary is guaranteed. All of the group’s current work is on aspects of tobacco control.
About your opportunity
We are seeking a Research Fellow or Behavioural Scientist to join the Nigel Gray Fellowship team. Reporting to the Nigel Gray Fellow, your role is to:
- Provide research input into the NHMRC funded International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project (Australian arm) and integrate findings with those from other ITC survey countries, especially the USA, England and Canada.
- Conduct a range of statistical analyses and review literature to inform the preparation and writing of research reports and papers
- Liaise with colleagues and external stakeholders, including presenting scientific work at conferences and seminars
- Assist in grant writing and data management as required
All about you
We are looking for someone with:
- PhD or equivalent in behavioural or social science or similar, with a demonstrated research component.
- Demonstrated understanding of behavioural aspects of public health including knowledge of health, addictive behaviours; and/or health behaviours more generally; or a demonstrated capacity to master new areas of knowledge rapidly.
- Proven ability to apply sophisticated statistical analysis techniques, and write for peer-reviewed publications
- Capacity to work collaboratively with internal and external counterparts
What we can offer you
This full-time fixed term position to 1 December 2020 will be awarded with title and salary commensurate with experience.
For a Research Fellow, the position provides a salary within range $68,616- $77,148 pa (pro rata for part-time) plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
For a Behavioural Scientist, the position provides a salary within range $80,074 - $94,753 pa (pro rata for part-time) plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
