The Research and Innovation Division promotes and enhances the University's strong and vibrant research culture by attracting, training and supporting researchers and industry partnerships to solve real-world problems.

The Research and Innovation portfolio is an integral part of the Division, supporting the University's research performance and profile by efficient and effective research administration and the provision of high level administrative and infrastructure research support activities.

The Research and Innovation Division at UoN has created a new team that will create, implement and manage business intelligence, reporting and data to inform the development of critical enterprise strategies and initiatives relating to research growth and performance. The Strategy and Performance team will be responsible for acquiring and transforming data into meaningful, actionable information, providing this to stakeholders across the University, and developing and implementing strategic initiatives in line with the University's New Futures strategic plan.

About the role

The Business Analytics Officer is responsible for activities that facilitate the delivery of the Research and Innovation Division's strategic objectives, via the collection, analysis, statistical modelling and reporting of research performance data.

Utilising high level skills and experience in business intelligence, report development and data visualisation, the Business Analytics Officer will develop innovative and informative statistical reports and provide evidence-based commentary and recommendations to support planning, quality assurance, benchmarking and decision making across the Division.

You will:

  • Lead, design and deliver descriptive, complex and insightful analyses for a broad range of stakeholders;
  • Develop BI analytic and reporting road maps for the Division that strongly align with the University's strategic priorities;
  • Promote engagement with BI and identify opportunities to increase the consumption of BI content across the organisation;
  • Deliver a contemporary best practice research data analytics and business intelligence service, in a complex environment, ensuring adherence to appropriate principles, policies and procedures; and
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous service improvement.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree with a statistics component or similar, and 4 years' subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and conducting descriptive statistical analysis, including more complex statistical analysis of large, multifaceted datasets.
  • Superior ability to design reports including demonstrated effectiveness in data visualisation.
  • High level of proficiency with relevant software packages and an ability to quickly adapt to new packages.
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills, including presenting to groups and a proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to make effective judgements and manage priorities to meet competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.

HEW Level 7 - $ 81,847 to $92,077 plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
