The Research and Innovation Division promotes and enhances the University's strong and vibrant research culture by attracting, training and supporting researcher and industry partners to solve real-world problems.

Research and Innovation Services supports the University's research performance and profile by efficient and effective research administration and the provision of high level administrative and infrastructure research support activities.

The Strategy and Performance team provides best practice advice and support to the University's research community, the Division's senior executive, and the Division's internal stakeholders.

The Research and Innovation Division at UoN has created a new team that will create, implement and manage business intelligence, reporting and data to inform the development of critical enterprise strategies and initiatives relating to research growth and performance. The Strategy and Performance team will be responsible for acquiring and transforming data into meaningful, actionable information, providing this to stakeholders across the University, and developing and implementing strategic initiatives in line with the University's New Futures strategic plan.

About the role

The Team Leader Strategic Initiatives is responsible for developing and implementing strategy, stakeholder management and engagement, business improvement and special projects.

Leading a strategic implementation team, the Team Leader, Strategic Initiatives will ensure the implementation of best practice, quality strategic plans relevant to the Research and Innovation Division and expected outcomes of the NeW Futures strategic direction.

Responsible to the Manager Strategy and Performance, the Team Leader, Strategic Initiatives undertakes a wide range of projects, and the incumbent will have strong skills and expertise in strategy development, stakeholder engagement, and governance principles and requirements.

Specifically, you will:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate high level strategies and plans over both the short and long term;
  • Align strategies with the University's NeW Futures Strategic plan and the Research and Innovation Division's Corporate Plan;
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Strategic Initiatives team;
  • Establish and maintain relevant, effective, consultative relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Establish solid working relationships with government representatives/agencies both domestic and international;
  • Manage strategic projects, including resource allocation;
  • Implement frameworks to review and measure success, effectiveness and efficiency of strategic projects.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Post graduate qualifications; or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and delivery of strategic plans and strategic initiatives;
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to lead/inspire a team of professional staff to deliver exceptional performance/outcomes;
  • High-level project management and organisational skills including the ability to analyse complex issues and problems, and develop solutions;
  • Extensive experience in administration, data management and reporting; business intelligence analysis; strategic planning.

HEW Level 8 - $92,077 to $107,422 plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
