Research and Innovation Services supports the University's research performance and profile by efficient and effective research administration and the provision of high level administrative and infrastructure research support activities.

Under the leadership of the Manager Performance & Strategy, the Strategic Initiatives Team coordinate strategic and operational activities across the Division.

The Research and Innovation Division at UoN has created a new team that will create, implement and manage business intelligence, reporting and data to inform the development of critical enterprise strategies and initiatives relating to research growth and performance. The Strategy and Performance team will be responsible for acquiring and transforming data into meaningful, actionable information, providing this to stakeholders across the University, and developing and implementing strategic initiatives in line with the University's New Futures strategic plan.

About the role

The Strategic Implementation Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives from inception to completion, stakeholder management and engagement, business improvement and special projects.

Responsible to the Team Leader, Strategic Initiatives, the Strategic Implementation Coordinator undertakes a wide range of projects, and the incumbent will have strong skills and expertise in project management, project implementation, stakeholder engagement, and governance principles and requirements.

You will:

  • Undertake benchmarking, analysis and reporting of sector developments, technological change and long term R&I trends to determine potential future projects to be undertaken and inform decision making;
  • Implement strategic initiatives, through planning and implementing projects as part of a longer term strategic plan;
  • Develop and drive integrated project plans, aligning project tactics with project strategy;
  • Scope improvement projects and gain agreement and buy in from stakeholders to progress; manage projects to ensure delivery; and
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous service improvement by regularly reviewing activities, processes and systems, constructively responding to feedback, making recommendations to optimise performance and implementing new business solutions.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant degree with at least 4 years' subsequent relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and delivery of strategic plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Expert project management skills including the ability to analyse complex issues and problems, develop feasible solutions, and undertake the design, and delivery of multiple concurrent complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working.
  • Ability to generate a strong sense of team spirit, co-operation and collaboration within and across teams.
  • Solid knowledge of the Australian research and research training environment.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.

HEW Level 7 - $ 81,847 to $92,077 plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
