The Research and Innovation Division promotes and enhances the University's strong and vibrant research culture by attracting, training and supporting researchers and industry partnerships to solve real-world problems.

Research and Innovation Services supports the University's research performance and profile by efficient and effective research administration and the provision of high level administrative and infrastructure research support activities.

The Research and Innovation Division at UoN has created a new team that will create, implement and manage business intelligence, reporting and data to inform the development of critical enterprise strategies and initiatives relating to research growth and performance. The Strategy and Performance team will be responsible for acquiring and transforming data into meaningful, actionable information, providing this to stakeholders across the University, and developing and implementing strategic initiatives in line with the University's New Futures strategic plan.

About the role

The Team Leader, Impact and Quality will develop and deliver timely, high-quality and insightful reporting and analytics to support research planning, quality assurance and decision making across key portfolio areas of the Research and Innovation Division's operations underpinning delivery of the University's Strategic Plan and vision for 2025. You will:

  • Promote the University's strategic vision, planning and performance through specialist data collection, management, statistical analysis, modelling and reporting of research data;
  • Provide direction to enhance the University and Division's analytic capability;
  • Manage team structure and competencies to ensure timely provision of meaningful information to support operational and strategic business needs;
  • Provide technical leadership for the University's research KPIs and lead indicators;
  • Guide business intelligence strategy and direction for the Division;
  • Coordinate the availability of relevant, robust and timely data and information, and prepare high level and detailed reports that address strategic and operational issues;
  • Develop and implement effective data collection and governance practices to ensure availability of quality research data.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in statistics, data science or a related degree, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • Proven track record in leading, designing and conducting high level statistical analysis of large, complex datasets and using that analysis to support an organisation to achieve its strategic objectives;
  • Expert understanding of best practice report design and data visualisation, including experience developing BI content for a range of audiences;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and engage with stakeholders;
  • Experience with SAS software (desirable);
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education Sector (desirable).

HEW Level 8 - $92,077 to $107,422 plus contributory superannuation with Unisuper, attracting a generous employer contribution of 17%.
