About us:

The Department of Communities and Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re-offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. It serves a key function of NSW Communities and Justice by providing effective, safe and humane management of offenders in custody and in the community. CSNSW also works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that offenders and their families are supported.

About the role:

  • We are in need of an experienced Research Analyst to conduct research and evaluation projects in line with key CSNSW operational objectives.
  • This role will see you assist Senior Executives and Managers in developing an evidence base for CSNSW practices and strategic objectives through accepted research, statistical analyses and evaluation methodologies.
  • With the support of senior Corrections Research Evaluation and Statistics staff, you will have a central role in generating and communicating advanced data insights and statistical findings to diverse audiences.
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualifications in behavioural / social sciences or statistics with a strong research component.
  • Current NSW driver’s license and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role.
  • Ability to travel and work from NSW country locations for short periods on an intermittent basis.

About you:
  • You will have proven experience in developing and conducting research and evaluation projects at all stages.
  • You will have qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences with a strong research background, which will support your theoretical and applied findings.
  • You will have experience in managing complex datasets and conducting quantitative and qualitative statistical analyses using your expertise in programs such as SPSS, R, NVivo, and Excel.
  • You will have strong communication, planning and organisational skills that allow you to manage multiple projects, both individually and collaboratively, in a busy and challenging environment.
