About this Opportunity

As a modelling expert, you will apply advanced statistical and computational skills to analyse complex spatial and time series data to quantify reef responses to environmental pressures on the Great Barrier Reef, and to identify scope for mitigation.

This role offers opportunities for autonomy and collaboration in a research portfolio focused on the design, analysis and interpretation of complex environmental data, with the opportunity to produce high impact publications on the topic.

This new position a will suit an early career researcher with a high level of expertise in understanding and investigating processes that affect the health and resilience of tropical marine ecosystems.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a world leading organisation with attractive working conditions, including a 9-day fortnight, generous leave entitlements, transportation to site, a salary range of $99,609 - $109,198 and 15.4% superannuation. This role is being offered for a minimum 5 year term and will be based in Townsville, Queensland.

About You

You will have advanced statistical and quantitative skills to analyse complex spatial and ecological data, and be able to demonstrate

  • PhD and postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience related to marine ecology;
  • High impact publications;
  • Experience in innovative environmental research; and
  • Experience successfully obtaining research sponsorships.
