As an Intelligence Assessment Analyst (economics) you will be part of a bespoke specialist economic team under the guidance of Director Behavioural Analysis and Defence Economics.

The successful analyst will require an in-depth understanding of economics, statistics, budgets and finance and be able to apply this knowledge to support strategic Defence priorities. You will undertake research and analysis of reporting on Defence and security related economic developments. You will analyse significant trends in Defence funding in the Asia Pacific region and provide comparative analysis and succinct assessments of economic issues of strategic Defence interest to Australia.

You will contribute to priority tasking and manage your workload, ensuring that deadlines for high quality intelligence assessments are met. You will work in a fast paced environment with short notice tasking, demonstrating your ability to balance priorities. You should be comfortable making assessments under pressure and be willing to substantiate your reasoning to senior customers. You should be a team player with excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills as you will liaise frequently with customers, subject matter experts and other team leaders in the Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO).
