Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of New South Wales.  Areas of expertise for this position include paediatrics, visual development, binocular vision, and vision science. 

The School of Optometry and Vision Science provides the largest undergraduate optometry program in Australia and New Zealand, with a five-year BOptom BSc and a Vision Science major and minor offered in the BSc program of the Faculty of Science which also allows an alternative pathway to enter optometry.

The School offers a diverse higher degree program as well as a well subscribed articulated postgraduate coursework program.

Research in the School of Optometry and Vision Science encompasses a diverse range of topics and disciplines, including basic, applied and clinical research in the science of vision. The Schools’ multidisciplinary approach to research is one of its key strengths.

About you

Applicants will have a PhD in optometry or other eye or vision science-related discipline.  The role would suit an outstanding, research-focussed person whose principal duties would be contributing to the Schools’ research output through publications in high-impact scholarly journals and successful research grant applications, as well as providing teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The applicant will be expected to contribute to the delivery of high quality general and specialist eye care and student supervision through the Optometry Clinic.

About the role

• The level of appointment will depend on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
• Full-time convertible (tenure-track) position.  
• Appointment will be offered as an initial term of five years with the conversion to a continuing appointment based on performance and achievement of KPIs.
