PC3 Facility Manager - [Archived Advertisement]

We are seeking a passionate scientist to manage  our biocontainment facilities and to support researchers working within the PC3 laboratories.

Scientific Services supports QIMR Berghofer researchers by providing core services; including flow cytometry, microscopy, histotechnology, GMP production, animal facilities, analytical facilities, sample processing, building services, scientific equipment, cryogenics and stores.

Although the role reports to the Building Services Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager, Safety Manager and researchers utilising PC3 facilities.

You will be responsible for: Ongoing operations of PC3 laboratories and facilitate researchers utilising these facilities; ensure PC3 facilities and operations comply with relevant regulations, standards, codes of practice and certification criteria; support routine laboratory activities in the insectary facility; and engage with internal clients to ensure PC3 facilities support research activities.

This role calls for a person with a degree level qualification in a life science, experience in the management and operation of laboratory facilities (PC3 and biocontainment management and experience will be highly regarded), and a working knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, codes of practice and certification criteria. Your excellent communication skills will demonstrate your ability to build relationships with internal customers and manage stakeholders. Finally, your organisational skills will demonstrate your ability to manage competing priorities within specific deadlines. Although not essential, experience with risk group 3 micro-organisms or viruses, insect colonies, or small laboratory animals would be an advantage.

Salary range is $80,886 - $86,168 per annum plus super and attractive salary packaging. This is a permanent full-time appointment.
