The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and deliver of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.
About the project:
The objective of the position is to provide research assistance with two research projects being undertaken in partnership with The University of Queensland and the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health.
PROJECT ONE: The project will explore best practice in improving access to hepatitis C Direct Acting Antiviral (DAA) treatment for urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This will involve using existing CQI processes used across the 20 clinics belonging to the 4 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in IUIH’s South East Queensland (SEQ) network.
PROJECT TWO: The second study will focus on both client’s and health professionals’ perceptions of goal setting and current practices utilised in teaching goal setting within University health programs.

About the Role?
The position will be responsible for collecting data from participating study locations, targeted professionals and tertiary academic staff through focus groups, interviews, survey data, routinely collected health data and will also involve the secondary analysis of two previous research projects.
- Co-facilitation/facilitation of focus groups
- Observation of CQI Meetings.- Development of surveys and interviewing survey participants
- Collecting and analyzing data from focus groups, interviews and survey instruments and previous research data
- Upholding ethical standards at all times during the course of data collection
- Maintaining privacy and confidentiality of participants during the course of data collection, including data integrity of completed surveys
- Reporting to the Project Steering Groups
About You?
Essentials:
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Have deadly interpersonal and communication skills
- Have experience in conducting yarns/interviews/focus groups
- Have experience in qualitative data analysis
- Current C Class Drivers License (QLD)
- Current Blue Card
- Criminal History Check (Willing to obtain)
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/ or communities
- A background in health will be beneficial
